DESCA-1 is an acid product, which has been formulated based on organic and inorganic acids, corrosion inhibitors, humidifying agents and foam controllers. It´s especially formulated to remove scale in steam production circuits, where contact between water and the coils of the steam generators causes salts and calcium deposits. These deposits, when cummuled on the heat transfer surfaces, reduce the heat transfer rate, thus reducing also the yield ( Kg of steam produced per kg of spent fuel)
The cummulation of the above mentioned deposits avoids a good transfer of the combustion heat to the water in the circuit. This reduces the amount of heat produced or makes necessary a higher amount of fuel to get the same amount of steam. Using DESCA-1 allows removing the calcium deposits, thus allowing fuel savings.
